Modern Warfare 3: London Mission Causing Media Issues Already

The British media is already getting upset due to the notification of a London mission that will be taking place in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.  People on the internet are saying that “this mission is like the No Russian mission in Modern Warfare 2”

Now being a pretty much hard-core gamer for all games and platforms I am extremely annoyed by the news papers getting so agitated over the trailer and content. Now the dailymail who of course are going to jump on the band waggon to start a flame-bait article. Now I live in London and I personally have family members who are associated with the London Underground and actually were working during the 7/7 bombing which happened in 2005.

Now I personally understand why some people will want the game banned due to the bombings, but  in all honesty it’s a game, it’s not real and because it’s set in the future and it’s not based on any true events. Don’t get me wrong it could happen (which I wish it doesn’t) and this is probably why there is so much attention to this level. Now when I spoke to Robert Bowling Infinity Ward’s Creative Strategist at the Modern Warfare 3 preview I attended he stated that they can’t use any London Underground related issues due to copy right issues.

Now the main reason along with probably that reason of copyright is also probably because the government doesn’t want to tempt fate. It’s a bit cynical but if that’s the governments choice. In all seriousness it is a Video Game and this is where the Main Stream Press doesn’t draw the line and continue to pick at something to make it seem worse than it is.  This is why for years The American Press has always slated against GTA due to it’s violence and sexual scenes. Again it’s a game and isn’t real. There has been much worse stuff in movies, go watch the Human Centipede if you don’t believe me.

Towards the article closing on the dailymail site they have stated ‘Activision, who make the game, said: ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a fictional action game aimed at mature adults and set in World War Three. The scenes in the game are entirely fictional and are not intended to recreate any historical events.’ Which as you can see Activision have already stated its FICTIONAL.

When I saw the gameplay trailer and a lot of my friends who live in London with me were like, ‘we get to kick ass in London and kill some terrorist?, I can’t wait’. It will seem that a lot of British gamers will feel the same as it’s the nearest experience you will get for fighting for your country other than being in the army itself.  I just can’t wait to see what is in-store with the London missions as I am always proud to fight as the S.A.S to have a sense of feeling of what it is like to fight in a war what our proud troops are currently doing. I think that people should ignore the main media streams about Call of Duty controversy with the London mission as it’s not just only us involved in the game its the Americans, Germans, French and Russians.

Now what is your opinion on this? Do you think the game should be banned in the UK or have the mission removed?  Let us know below.
