It would seem that the long awaited confirmation of a sequel to Pixar’s Finding Nemo is over, and now comes the almost three year wait until the release of it. Finding Dory is set to be hitting our multiplexes in November 2015 with Ellen Degeneres back in the driving seat as our favourite forgetful fish.

Pixar sequels have proven themselves in previous years with the magnificent Toy Story and Cars films never disappointing audiences by maintaining its original cast and imaginative stories. Ellen Degeneres spoke publicly about Finding Dory for the first time and said although it has taken a long time for Pixar to get round to announcing a sequel, she declares it will be worth the wait.

The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.

I for one am officially excited.

Although no announcements have been made regarding its plot, a few little clues have surfaced. Firstly, it’s going to about Dory, obviously. Secondly, it will be set on the Californian coast and finally, it will take place 10 years after the events of Finding Nemo.  Not really giving anything away are they? In a speculative manner, as fans of Pixar will be, there are possibilities of seeing a teenage Nemo, a zesty, reformed Marlin, a grown up Squirt and perhaps an appearance from the three sharks; Bruce, Anchor and Chum. Maybe Dory gets lost in the ocean, much like when we first meet her in Finding Nemo? Or, maybe she tries to remember where she lost her family so she can find them? Who knows!

With the release of Monsters University on the horizon and The Good Dinosaur to be released next year, Pixar are cementing the belief that they are at the top of their game, all but blowing Disney and Dreamworks out of the water.  All we need now is confirmation of Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2 to really get our teeth rattling.

We’re off to Monsters University on June 21st 2013, meeting The Good Dinosaur on 30th May 2014 and we’ll all be Finding Dory in November 2015.
