The PlayStation 4 has proved a power house in the console market. Sony have tried to make the console feel more portable by allowing you to stream to your Playstation Vita or Vita TV but with their reliance on decent internet this isn’t the answer. The companies latest peripheral may very well solve this and help make the console more portable, and best of all it’s not limited to just the PlayStation 4.

That latest attempt is their MPCL1 pocket projector which was announced last month. When revealed however there wasn’t an official mention of it being able to work with a PlayStation 4, despite its HDMI input. It was spotted at Gamescom however being used in the Until Dawn booth to show off content. The device is about the same size as a USB hard drive which makes it fairly easy to carry about with you where ever you go, and also means that not having a television to play your PS4 on won’t be a problem.

Its sole purpose is obviously not just for the PlayStation 4, but it’s a huge plus that it does support the machine. For those that are all about the resolution you may be disappointed. The projector puts out an image at 1920×720 which means this won’t be the crisp HD you’ll get on your HD TV, but will still look pretty good. It can be screened on to a surface of up to 120 inches, which is about 10ft.

If you want to read all of the technical details about the projector I highly recommend this Geek Culture article that does a great job at bullet pointing the key features. According to Forbes the projector is likely to cost $350, which is a lot of money to part with, but a very reasonable price for a portable projector. Will you be picking one up and if so what will it be for? Gaming, films or just to have a portable projector?
