Update 2: The document has popped up again via sharing site ge.tt. Head on over to get a possible (though likely inaccurate) look at the future of the Xbox platform.

Update: In trying to provide the link to the original document, the actual document has now been removed which surely raises the issue of legitimacy even further? Let us know your thoughts below.

Original Story

We must make it clear that at the moment this is strictly rumour, but facts have to begin somewhere don’t they? In the vast world of rumours they don’t get much bigger than this.

NeoGAF users, otherwise known as the Gaming-Age Forum have found themselves in possession of a 56-page document that apparently details Microsoft’s next console, the Xbox 720. These documents are from 2010 and refer to the Wii U as “Wii 2” but interestingly, even though out of date, there is the inclusion of the recently announced project SmartGlass.

The legitimacy of this document has been questioned by the forum but if found to be a large scale hoax, some of the details could still well be true. For example it reveals the Xbox 720 as having a late 2013 release date and sold in the region of $300 alongside Kinect V2. Which as the document describes, allows for “higher accuracy, stereo imaging, improved voice recognition, support for four player tracking, improved RGB camera and dedicated hardware processing.” It will be interesting to see how audiences respond to these claims of prices, upgrades and other ideas that reside in the mammoth document.

We’ll be sure to update you if we hear anything more regarding the document, or the Xbox 720. Microsoft is due to have an event on Monday 18th June for a ‘major announcent’. Current rumours point towards a possible Microsoft Tablet to compete with the iPad, though if it’s anything gaming related, we’ll be sure to let you know.
