Huge Pokémon GO update brings Research Quests and introduces Mew!

A huge Pokémon GO update will go live starting this week on Friday March 30^th.  The update will introduce new Field Research and Special Research features which act as quests that will reward you with the possibility of catching Mythical Pokémon Mew, and even a chance of acquiring a Legendary, which is pretty sweet.

Field Research tasks will include simple activates such as spinning PokéStops, which will then provide you with objectives that might include discovering and catching certain Pokémon or perhaps even battling against a set Pokémon.  All of the above are pretty standard activities for Pokémon GO players, so even on a basic level; many players shouldn’t be alienated with this new content.

Special Research quests will be provided by Professor Willow as he “will take you on a journey to make important discoveries!” which judging by the screenshots provided in this article, look to be 8-stage quests.

Some of the tasks will vary in difficulty, so the more challenging tasks you complete, the greater you’re in-game rewards will be.  Each day you can earn a Stamp for completing Field Research tasks and when you collect seven stamps, you will earn a Research Breakthrough, which has the chance of encountering the Legendary Pokémon we spoke of earlier.
