Social games based on the classic British comedy of the Monty Python group are now in production

Zattikka, a UK company, are aiming to break into the growing social gaming business and have announced they have acquired the Monty Python license.

The company already have two games, Butt Scan and Mr Bean: Out of Control for the iPhone and iPad, on the way. At the press release a company spokesman said:

“Monty Python is one of the most iconic comedy licenses around, but there has been no new material for over 20 years. By acquiring these rights we will be transporting Monty Python into the 21st Century, with a totally new experience for their unique comedy that will delight old and new fans alike. Forget Web 2.0, this is Python two point one and three quarters.”

Whether or not the games will be successful, only time will tell, but apparently Python Terry Gilliam will be working with the company on the game as well as other members of the original Python crew. Perhaps there is hope for game, the stigma that comes with making of a social game out of a classic franchise is at least going to have people talking about it.
