Since Pokémon Go launched back in the summer of 2016, so many expected the game to be long-dead by now, however, two years on, that couldn’t be further from the truth.  According to data gathered by Superdata, more players played Pokémon Go during May 2018 than any other month since its launch, and it’s making more money than ever before too.

According to Superdata, more than a whopping 147 million people had played Pokémon Go during May 2018 and in the process, earned approximately £78.7m in microtransactions, which up 174% year-on-year.  This isn’t all that bad for a game that so many outsiders claim that “no one plays anymore.”  A huge reason why Pokémon Go is continuing to be so popular is largely down to the recent Research tasks and the new Friend’s/Trading update.

The impact of Pokémon Go has truly be revolutionary and speaking from some that that is autistic, socially awkward, suffers from anxiety and is disabled, Pokémon Go has done a fantastic job in motivating me to get out and about, and to meet new people.  It’s also extra special sharing this experience with my wife and son, who also love playing Pokémon Go as much as I do.  So I wish that this mobile game continues to grow year-on-year.  The impressive numbers will also no doubt increase as we go into the summer holidays.

Next month, Legendary Pokémon Articuno which was the reward for June’s 7-day task, will be replaced by Snorlax in July.  We’ll also have the Squirtle Community Day on Sunday, July 8th, between 10am-1pm UK time.   The July Community Day will also offer an increased number of Squirtle’s in the wild (with some shinny’s and a special move), 3-hour Lures, a ¼ egg hatching distance and double Stardust.

The Shiny Squirtle is a lighter shade of blue
