Since the announcement of this particular title I’ve been excited about how the over populated zombie genre in video games could be turned on its head and made, well, fun again. Dying Light is the new title from Techland, the creators of the Dead Island series and whilst that particular title was decent it looks like Dying Light will certainly take the crown. Released today and posted below are 12 minutes of pre-alpha gameplay footage (courtesy of IGN), during this we learn how to survive during daylight but also learn how to effectively (or not so rather) switch tactics to keep the undead at bay during the night hours. Whilst our zombie companions seem docile and rather stupid during the day all things normal take a turn for the worst when night approaches and the hunter becomes the hunted. I hope you enjoy the new footage as much as I did and I also hope this has wet your appetite regarding next gen gaming.

Dying Light is a first-person, action survival horror game set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, players traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning’s first light.
