So, this is probably a game that might not be on most of your radars, but it should be. You see, The Novelist aims to do what a lot of big budget games don’t focus on, “The Human Relations”. According to the official website…

“The Novelist asks one central question: can you achieve your dreams without pushing away the people you love? The game focuses on Dan Kaplan, a novelist struggling to write the most important book of his career while trying to be the best husband and father he can be. The Kaplan’s have come to a remote coastal home for the summer, unaware that they’re sharing the house with a mysterious ghostly presence: you.”

Just by reading that paragraph, I am sure most of you might be interested… which isn’t a surprise to be honest. We have been given many amazing big budget titles these days, but some don’t grasp the true essence of character interaction. Sure there are always games like, Bioshock: Infinite or The Last of Us, that have a spot on performance, yet, many don’t open up to it. In most games, you don’t have any meaningful relationships with someone, either you just listen to them, fight them or probably kill them by the end. However, not this game! This game casts you as a ghost who must try to re-unite the family, who even though are living under one roof, behave as if they are strangers.

you will have to read the families thoughts and desires

The best thing about this game, probably is that, your actions can have multiple outcomes throughout the game, and to fully see what this game has to offer, you will have to play it a multiple number of times. So, to help you, you will have to read the families thoughts and desires to determine the best course of action. But be warned though, as the choices are nothing easy and everything will have consequences. If you are like me, and are interested in this game, then please support the developers,  by voting for them on Steam Greenlight and by even buying it.

Kent has faced situations, eerily similar to the game

The game is being made by Kent Hudson, a former AAA developer, who has worked on games like Bioshock 2 and Deus Ex: Invisible War. He was creatively restless after working on those games, and wanted to create something he believed in and even though he had no idea what to do at the time, he quit his job. So over the years, when working on this game as an indie dev, Kent has faced situations, eerily similar to the game , and thus he thinks of the game to be really personal. So, be sure to check out this game, and buy it over on the official website if you’re interested. Just remember, every decision will be personal, and every decision will be yours! So be sure to check it out when the game comes out this September for the PC, as it might just resonate with you.
