Ubisoft has announced a new pre-order incentive for Assassin’s Creed: Unity that involves giving away weekly prizes.  Customers that pre-order AC: Unity will be given a pre-order code and upon visiting the related AC: Unity website, you will be required to play a fruit machine type game called the Guillotine Prize Drop.  Prizes can range from AC themed consoles, headphones, HDTV’s, AC memorabilia, trips to Comic-Con, Montreal, Paris and more.

The trailer below states that “Every Friday is Prize Day”, unfortunately as I found out yesterday, Friday Prize Day only applies if you are a resident of the U.S, even for those from other regions that have pre-ordered direct from the Uplay Store.  Which is a shame for everyone else, as this is a great competition to be a part of.

It has also been recently revealed that the competitive multiplayer for AC: Unity has been dropped in favour of the co-op mode that was seen at E3 this year.  When talking to GamingBolt, lead level designer for AC: Unity Bruno St-André said that:

We made choices on the game early on that we’re going for the shared experience,” St-André added. “This meant that we developed core mechanics more on cooperation instead of confrontation.

So we put a lot of effort into redefining the fights so that multiple players can actually engage in them and have a better strategy against the AI, which reacts differently each time. Same thing for navigation and same thing for the stealth. All of our effort and our decisions were based on this topic. We really wanted to be focused on that.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will release for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 28th.  A release for a PS3 and Xbox 360 version entitled Assassin’s Creed: Comet is also planned for this year.
