Ubisoft has announced the Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag Jackdaw Edition, which will release on March 28th for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.  The Jackdaw Edition (named after Edward’s sea vessel) will come complete with the AC4 main game and all its season pass content, which includes the story based DLC Freedom Cry.  The Jackdaw Edition will be an Amazon UK exclusive and currently retails at £59.99.

Now while all this content is good, I don’t exactly know how much it represents value for money.  If you shop around you could perhaps pick up AC4 on the PS4/XB1 for around £40, then with the season pass selling individually at £15.99, that’s still less then £59.99 and I’m willing to bet that at some point in the near future, the season pass for the new gen version of AC4 will be on sale at a discount.

If I’m honest, it seems an easy way by Ubisoft to cash in on a Game of the Year Edition early and charge a premium price.  To which you can also bet your bottom dollar that the usual GOTY Edition will release this year, likely less then £59.99.  But if you’re a collector then you may still be tempted to pick this up.
