During a panel by EA at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, Amy Hennig revealed some details on the forthcoming Star Wars game from Visceral, which is set to release in 2018.  She also teased that it will have “an original Star Wars story with new characters, new locations, new tech, new creatures, you name it.

But perhaps more interestingly, she teased that the game will have multiple protagonists, which could not only offer a branching narrative, but maybe even multiple storylines.  Hennig also spoke of how important key multiple characters are to a story, especially within the Star Wars universe.

We’re creating an all-new Star Wars story with new characters, and it’s important that we honour it,” said Hennig. “We want you to finish playing the game and feel like you just saw a really good Star Wars movie.

She also added (when speaking of co-protagonists) “The difference between Star Wars and Indiana Jones is that there aren’t side characters, there are co-protagonists, and so the same thing is true of our game,” Furthermore. “They only escape the Death Star because everyone does their part in parallel. The challenge for us then is how do we enable that in gameplay.

Not much else is really known about the Star Wars title from Visceral, other than the brief snippet that we saw at this year’s E3, however, those in attendance at the panel said that some concert art that was shown that featured the Imperial Star Destroyer, which could suggest that the game might be set within the original trilogy.

As always, we’ll keep you updated whenever we hear more.
