Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Revealed, Full Of Pirates

Ubisoft have finally officially spilled the beans on the next installment of their popular Assassin’s Creed series. Advertised as number four but also boasting a subtitle, Black Flag promises a dip into the underhanded world of piracy, but with an Assassin’s touch.

Promising a release to PS4 and all current consoles (including Wii U) means they target this as the bridge between the generations for Assassin’s Creed followers.

With a new world comes a new protagonist. Enter Edward Kenway (believed to be Connor’s grandfather, making this a prequel), a young Brit who falls from the relative grace of the Royal Navy into the murky world of stealing riches. Naturally a master assassin, he lives in the times of The Golden Age Of Pirates, coming into contact with famous figures from that era, such as the legendary Blackbeard. Through a turbulent journey in the West Indies, Kenway will surely fight the good fight against the Templar factions. It seems he is much feared, and quite the enigma (appropriate for the lead in such a title).

More than fifty navigable locations have been promised, meaning the variety of exploration in this game – helped heavily by the fact that surely you will be most at home on sea – should be a key strength. It’s likely the ship combat from Assassin’s Creed 3 will return in no small part.

Ubisoft also promise embellishment on the series’ burgeoning multiplayer elements, mixing in new ideas based on the West Indies location.

Some feel it is too soon to moving on to a new protagonist, but given the Kenway family tree angle, it should work out fine.

A release date of 1st November has been promised for all current-gen consoles, with an announcement for the next batch of consoles surely soon to follow.
