Update: Limited Edition Delayed – Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition Cancelled

Update 19/06/15: It just keeps getting worse for the Batman: Arkham Knight collector editions, first this week the Batmobile Edition was cancelled and now the Limited Edition has been delayed. According to my email from Amazon there is a problem with “packaging quality issues” and that when the limited edition has “updated packaging” it should arrive no later than July 14th (nearly a month after the games release date).

In WB’s slight defence, I am being provided with a PS4 code for the full game ready for its release date on Tuesday 23rd, but it’s really not the point is it? Whoever is in charge of quality control at WB seriously needs a bollocking, because the issues this week simply are not good enough, especially so close to the games launch.

You can read my email below:

Hello,

We wanted to let you know that Batman Arkham Knight – Amazon.co.uk Exclusive Limited Edition will be delayed as the manufacturer has advised us that there’s been a packaging quality issue.

We want to ensure that your order reaches you in pristine condition and your item, with the updated packaging, should be with you no later than 14 July, 2015.

To ensure that you get to play your game on the release date, we’ll be sending you a code via e-mail on Tuesday 23 June, that you can use to download the full game from the PS4.

We realise that this is not what you were expecting when the order was placed, and if you have any further questions, please reply to this e-mail.

We hope to see you again soon.

Regards,

Original Story 18/06/15: Today I received an email to say that my Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition has been cancelled due to Warner Bros believing that it’s not met a certain standard of quality.  Which is fair enough, because I’d be a lot more annoyed if it had turned up looking like a piece of garbage, especially considering the £170 price.

But surely someone must have known that the Batmobile designed by TriForce was not looking good and this cancellation should have been sorted out way before now? Depending on your retailer, some have already paid for this item and some on dispatch (such as myself), but full refunds will be given to those that has already made a down payment.

Also those that have had their pre-order cancelled will receive £20 credit from their retailer, which is a nice gesture of goodwill in my opinion.  My retailer (Game) has offered me £20 off the Red Hood Edition, which I have no intention of taking up, as I already have the statue edition on order from Amazon and I only wanted the Batmobile Edition, for the actual Batmobile.  Though don’t ask Game to switch the £20 over on to another pre-order, because coming from my own experience, they won’t do that you for unfortunately.

Are you one of those that have had their order cancelled? How pissed are you or are you ok with it all?  Let us know in the comments section below.  I suppose the only shining light here is that the extortionate eBay sellers are going to have a tough few days issuing all those refunds.  You can read my email which confirmed the cancellation below.

Batman: Arkham Knight releases for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One June 23rd.

Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances that greatly compromised the quality of the Batmobile, included within the Batman Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition, Warner Bros has decided not to release this product.

As a gesture of goodwill, you will be entitled to a £20 discount on the Batman Red Hood Edition, featuring extra content only available at GAME.

If you want to proceed with this offer it will update automatically, you do not need to do anything. If you wish to cancel your complete order, please contact customer services on XXX XXX XXXX or email us at XXXX.XXXX@game.co.uk by 11am on 23rd June.

We apologise for the inconvenience.
