Bethesda Softworks Announces ‘The Elder Scrolls Online’

Under development over at ZeniMax Online Studios, the oft rumoured MMO The Elder Scrolls Online has officially been announced for release on PC and Mac in 2013. Featured exclusively on the June issue of Game Informer which will be shipping later this month, The Elder Scrolls Online will allow gamers to sink even more time into the fantastical world of the award-winning series. Under the leadership of Matt Firor who has spent the last two decades working in online game development, there’s certainly lots to look forward to, with coverage appearing both in print and online in the coming month. Game Informer reveals that –

Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

The June issue of Game Informer will be packed full of details including –

An in-depth look at everything from solo questing to public dungeons awaits in our enormous June cover story – as well as a peek at the player-driven PvP conflict that pits the three player factions against each other in open-world warfare over the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor’s throne itself.

Game Director Matt Firor discusses development of the title stating –

We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,”

It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.

Scheduled to arrive in 2013, The Elder Scrolls Online will be available in English, French and German on release for PC and Mac.
