Blade Runner is an iconic cyberpunk movie from 1982 directed by the legendary Ridley Scott that inspired just about forms of entertainment mediums for decades (and counting).

It’s also a movie that some consider to be amongst cinema’s finest, and I agree. Despite being over 40 years old, it’s a timeless classic that has aged rather well, despite it actually being set in the year 2019. I suppose at this point, we should just consider it to be an alternative universe.

Sadly, when it comes to video games of the same franchise inspired by the Blade Runner movies, the same success hasn’t been shared. Perhaps the pick of the small bunch would be the point-and-click game from 1997, which recently received a remaster.

Well, for the first time in over 25 years on PC and consoles, we’re getting a brand new Blade Runner game, which is not a remaster or remake. The game in question is Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth and it’s published by Annapurna Interactive, behind the likes of Outer Wilds and Stray.

While details on the game are very vague at the time, it will take place: “squarely between the original film Blade Runner and the sequel Blade Runner 2049, and set in a dystopian Los Angeles after the Blackout hits.”

Further details will be shared at a later date, so for now, we can enjoy the cinematic trailer. A release date is yet to be confirmed. It would also be safe to assume that Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
