It seems that Bloober Team may have bitten the hands that feed them by blaming Konami for the release of the recent Silent Hill 2 remake ‘combat’ gameplay trailer.

When the trailer was released, I was concerned by the focus on combat, something that didn’t appear to remain true to the original Silent Hill 2, and I certainly wasn’t alone in that sentiment.

As reported by Eurogamer Poland (thanks Eurogamer UK), Bloober Team studio head Piotr Babieno said that the recent gameplay seen in the combat trailer is “not the spirit of what used to be, or what we’re creating now” and that the studio is working to “fully capture this romantic vision of a game that debuted 22 years ago”. He elaborated further saying that when the game is released it will be judged “in a completely different way.”

Honestly, I’ve not always been a fan of Bloober Team games, but I respect what they’re saying here and I will give them the benefit of the doubt because I love the Silent Hill series and I want this remake to knock it out of the park.

No release date has been announced for the Silent Hill 2 remake, but it is expected to be released this year for PC and PlayStation 5.
