Game Informer certainly knows how to get the big gaming scoops, in recent months they’ve had Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Batman: Arkham Knight, Evolve, Destiny and more.  For the this coming June issue Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the star of the show.

You can subscribe to Game Informer Magazine HERE, as soon as I am able to afford the subscription I think I’ll be signing up too.  So for the time being, the information in this article comes courtesy of GameSpot.

Below is the list of new details for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in the June issue of Game Informer:

  • CoD: Advanced Warfare will run off an all new and currently unannounced game engine.
  • It will release for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with a separate studio to Sledgehammer Games working on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
  • We already know that the campaign story will be set in the year 2054, but co-founder at Sledgehammer Games Michael Condrey has revealed that the story opens with an event that he describes as “like a global 9/11.” as disaster will strike in major cities on multiple continents led by a terrorism organisation called KVA.
  • You will play as the games sole protagonist Private Mitchell, who is voiced by Troy Baker.
  • Private Mitchell starts the game as a Marine and is squad-mates with Will Irons, the son of PMC Atlas Corporation CEO Jonathan Irons, who is played by Kevin Spacey.  Private Mitchell then joins Jonathan Irons company with his son Will and is gifted with the EXO suit that we have seen in the reveal trailer from last week.
  • During and after each mission you will be rewarded with points that can be used to upgrade your EXO suit.  The upgrades will allow you to move faster and become more agile, perform more advanced “super-jumps” (as seen in the reveal trailer), hover mid-air, utilise optic camouflage as a cloaking device, and climb walls with magnetic gloves and more.
  • The game will feature traditional ammunition weapons, as well as energy-based firearms.
  • You will have advanced “variable grenades” that can be switched from concussion to threat detection whilst they cook in the palm of your hand.  The concussion grenade is self-explanatory, while the detection grenades will trigger an augmented reality system that will reveal the enemies location via your visor.
  • I have a good feeling about this year’s Call of Duty multiplayer and while this doesn’t reveal all that much, it excites me none the less.  So far we’ve seen no multiplayer details as of yet, but during the June issue of Game Informer Michael Condrey teases us by saying “You can probably imagine the possibilities of a lot of the stuff you saw in single-player and how it would apply online.
  • This will also come as no surprise, but CoD: Advanced Warfare will feature some form of co-op mode.  I for one hope that along with the competitive multiplayer, we’ll learn much more about this aspect at this year’s E3 in June.
  • To make Activision’s vision of the future more believable, the co-founder at Sledgehammer Games Glen Schofield has revealed that Activison consulted with “experts from production design in movies to experts in the military to scientists and futurists,
  • Being a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, this is particularly awesome news.  Long standing composer of the Metal Gear Solid series Harry Gregson-Williams has been working on the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare soundtrack, in which audio director Don Vecca has stated that he believes “Advanced Warfare is going to be the best-sounding and certainly the best-mixed game ever.

These are just some of the small number of facts revealed in the June issue of Game Informer, you can find out more by subscribing to their digital and physical magazine HERE.
