Call of Duty announcement expected next week, title revealed & includes remastered Modern Warfare
Apparently Activision are set for a big Call of Duty reveal next week, however their parade has been urinated on somewhat, following a succession of potential leaks. Firstly, on the PSN Store, the title Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare appeared, before being swiftly removed (image seen below). Which not only revealed the potential announcement, but also the games title as well. The news of the reveal was posted on the Twitter account of fellow videogame journalist Jim Sterling (also seen below), so thank God for him and what not.
The next Call of Duty will apparently get unveiled by next Tuesday. Getting listed in retailers at any rate. pic.twitter.com/eYnVX5spdh

Then an image of what appeared to be a pre-order card from the US retailer Target via a post on Reddit made its appearance. The advert not only shared the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare name, but it was specifically advertising a Legacy Edition of the game, which includes a remastered Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (judging from the font at least), which many (including me), consider this to be the pinnacle point of the long running series.
The pre-order card also revealed the potential release date, with the date November 11th written on the card, which seems accurate for Activision’s annually release.
The exciting news for me is the potential inclusion of the Modern Warfare Remastered, which if jazzed up with not only a higher resolution and framerate, but textures too, it could be an awesome opportunity to revisit the much loved classic, especially if it includes its multiplayer component.
However, I don’t share the same kind of excitement for the Infinite Warfare name, nor do I for its rumoured futuristic space setting. Futuristic shooters have entered the overkill stage for me and now I’m longing for the series to return to its World War roots, which is kind of ironic seeing as I was saying the same thing in reverse with the release of Call of Duty 3 from 2006. But if the recent Battlefield rumours are believed to be true, we could still get our taste of some vintage FPS shootage this year.
With the pending big announcement to arrive next week, all will soon be clear, though we do know that this year’s outing will be developed by Infinity Ward.
