Call of Duty Black Ops 3: Zombie Chronicles outed by retailer and appears on ERSB

Back in early February, an Activision CEO suggested that due to the continued online popularity of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, some new content would one day be on its way.  This came as a surprise to some, as the fourth and final DLC map pack was released back in September 2016 with Salvation.

However, while we’ve not heard anything official from Activision in terms of details or gameplay etc, thanks to a Mexican retailer, they posted a listing for a Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombie Chronicles DLC and it will apparently release for Xbox One and PS4 (PC wasn’t mentioned, but it’s a safe bet that it will release on that format too).

According to the description, Zombie Chronicles is “a full suite which brings the original contents of Black Ops 3 and the content of Zombie Chronicles, includes 8 classic maps of Treyarch Zombies remastered and all the maps include the Gobblegum function.”

Now the “8 classic maps of Treyarch Zombies remastered” suggests that the maps won’t include those from Black Ops 3 itself, but could very well feature some from World at War (the debut of Zombies), Black Ops and Black Ops 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombie Chronicles has also apparently appeared on the ESRB ratings website, though I can no longer find it on the site, but we do have a screengrab of that very listing below.  Which going by the original Mexican retailer listing, Zombie Chronicles would come bundled with Black Ops 3 at retail, so that would make sense for it to appear on the ERSB on its own right.

Knowing how Activision operate, now that this rumour has been outed, it wouldn’t surprise me if the publisher announce something soon in the coming days or weeks leading up to E3.  Whether this new content is included in the Black Ops 3 season pass remains to be seen.

Also this week, a listing for a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone appeared on an online retailer website, suggesting that the title would get a standalone release, you can read up on those details here.  And be sure to read our review of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
