Call Of Duty Reveal Coming During NBA Playoffs May 1st

The next Call Of Duty title will be revealed in just over a week’s time during the NBA Playoffs on TNT May 1st. The official Call Of Duty website has been updated with a timer slowly ticking down till the aforementioned date.

Earlier last week, a retailer displayed a poster entitled ‘Return For Debriefing’ for 5.2.12 (2nd May), so it looks like the pre-order campaign will begin from early May, most likely offering incentives such as the ‘Classified Intel Pack’ for MW3 which featured a number of in-game bonuses.

All signs are currently pointing to Black Ops 2. Treyarch is again in the development chair this time around, and considering how well Black Ops did for them, it seems fair that they’d head straight on into a sequel. The Call Of Duty website displays similar visual references to the title; The white text on black background and many screens diplaying ‘Classified. Let’s not forget the slip-ups over at Amazon France and other online retailers, displaying the title for pre-order.

Adding further evidence, the source code (as spotted by NeoGAF) reads includes such references as –

“2012 Activision Publishing, Inc. Activision and Call of Duty are registered trademarks and Black Ops is a trademark of Activision Publishing, Inc. All other trademarks and trade names are the properties of their respective owners.”

It appears that the ‘Classified’ screens are set to slowly reveal themselves as the days go by, with one currently displaying a very grainy image, most likely a frame from the World Reveal. Going by years past, it would be an easy assumption that this will be more of a teaser trailer, with a gameplay demo showing up during Microsoft’s E3 2012 Press Conference (June 4th 9:30am PST/4:30pm GMT), though this is of course just speculation at the moment.

Be sure to tune to the Playoffs on May 1st, or head back here where we’ll have the trailer up as it goes live.
