Since the release of Resident Evil 7, Capcom has been on one hell of a revival, with following releases such as the Resident Evil 2 remake and Devil May Cry 5, all powered by their in-house game engine known as the RE Engine.  Not to mention that they’ve also released some great fan-service remasters.

The next generation of consoles maybe only a year or so away, so Capcom are already preparing for that generation to arrive with “numerous” games already in development.  We don’t know what those games are at the moment, but the news was revealed at a recent Capcom financial briefing.

Here’s what was said by Capcom at that very briefing:

The games we developed using the RE engine during this current hardware generation have received critical acclaim, and from the early stages of building this engine, we kept the ability to augment it for next-generation development in mind,” Capcom also added the following “As such, we view the RE engine as one of our strengths that will contribute to next-generation game creation.

Also with E3 being mere weeks away, fans are excited to see what Capcom might reveal, especially following the Resident Evil 2 remake appearing at last year’s show.  However, it is rumoured that Capcom might reveal a new game during Microsoft’s E3 briefing; given that Microsoft and Capcom have had exclusivity deals in the past with Dead Rising 3 and Dead Rising 4.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft and Capcom continue the trend with another Dead Rising reveal, but perhaps we might get a different series entirely?  For me personally, I’m wishing to see a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake, as well as a new Onimusha and/or Dino Crisis.  Thankfully we won’t have to long to find out with E3 being next month.
