Capcom has filed a new trademark for Dino Crisis, a game fans have been longing to be remade.  The trademark was filed with the Japan Patent Office, there were also other titles trademarked such as Breath of Fire, Darkstalkers and Mega Man.

This is the second trademark made for Dino Crisis by Capcom in recent times, with the first being filed on February 5th,2018 and it being granted on December 28th, 2018.  These most recent trademarks were made on November 29th last month, before they were published on December 17th.  However, a trademark from Japan for Dino Crisis was last made March 31st, 2000.

Ever since the fantastic Resident Evil 2 remake released, fans have been calling for a plethora of Capcom classics to be recreated using the RE Engine, one being the Dino Crisis series.  Capcom has also spoke of an interest in the past about reviving this beloved franchise.  But it’s also worth keeping in mind that companies are always registering trademarks to keep their IP’s secure, so this could be something run of the mill.

However, added fuel was thrown into the speculative fire after emails being sent out to Resident Evil Ambassador members which revealed plans to invite members to play test an “unannounced title, and priority seats at our [Capcom’s] game show booth”.  Putting two and two together, and considering that the Resident Evil 3 remake has already been announced to release on April 23rd, 2020, there is at least a slight chance that this “unannounced title” could be Dino Crisis.

At this stage we can only speculate, but it’s always fun to gossip, so let us know your thoughts across our social media channels.
