It is a bad day for RTS fans as the release date of Relic’s eagerly-awaited PC strategy sequel, Company of Heroes 2, has officially been pushed back from March 12th to June 25th.

The press release does not detail any specific reason for the delay, simply stating: “Relic Entertainment is using the additional time to help Company of Heroes 2 meet the high standard set by its predecessor, the highest rated strategy game of all time.”

Producer Greg Wilson added: “We hate to disappoint our fans with a later than expected date as we know they are eager to play but we feel that the additional time will help the team deliver the high quality sequel fans deserve.”

Relic was recently bought by SEGA after original publisher THQ went into liquidation earlier this year, and this is the first major piece of news released about the game since the acquisition.

Blizzard’s own RTS sequel, Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm, is also due for release on March 12th, so fans of the genre still have something to look forward to this Spring.
