The debut game from Canadian studio, Compulsion Games – Contrast is a 1920s, film noir inspired puzzle platformer. You play as Dawn, an imaginary friend of a young girl called Didi, who can break the realms of the world and become 2D or 3D as it suits her. Become a shadow on the wall to reach places that you wouldn’t be able to reach in your real world body, manipulate lighting to open new paths to discover new areas and sit back and enjoy the ride.

The puzzles in Contrast are light based, so you need to utilise the power of becoming a shadow that you possess by manoeuvring light sources and objects in the 3d world so you can open paths to progress in the 2d world. Follow the sad tale of Didi’s family through her eyes, and watch a story unfold through the eyes of a child all while being serenaded with sultry ambient jazz.

Contrast makes it’s way onto Steam, Xbox LIVE Arcade and the US PSN for Playstation 4 on the 15th November, US PSN for the PlayStation 3 on the 19th November and then for Europe on the 20th November. Finally, the PS4 version of Contrast will be available for us in Europe on the 29th November.

The concept of Contrast intrigues me, the mix between the 2D and 3D aspect sounds like it has a lot of potential to be a very fun and interesting puzzle game. I look forward to being able to get my hands on this once it comes out and I will report back!
