Crystal Dynamics has asked fans about the Legacy of Kain series in a recent survey, sparking hopes of a franchise revival.

The original game in the series, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is considered to be a cult classic by fans. However, it perhaps never received the commercial and critical success compared to the likes of its sequels such as Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

That being said, it’s been a long time coming since we’ve had anything from this gothic vampiric series. The last game in the series was in 2015 with Legacy of Kain: Defiance. There was a planned multiplayer game called Nosgoth, named after the series location, but that project was cancelled in 2015.

However, the recent survey sent out by Crystal Dynamics has sparked some renewed hope. I was one of those that received the survey in question. The survey asked questions such as would we like the Legacy of Kain series to return? If so, would we like a remake, remaster or sequel?

Furthermore, it even asked what kind of genre would we like to see it return to. Options included a single player, an RPG, an open-world setting, and even an RTS. There were also questions related to multiplayer offerings. Hopefully, the latter doesn’t come to fruition.

You can take a look at the survey for yourself here, that’s assuming it hasn’t been taken down before you try to access it. Recently, following the Embracer Group of western studios once owned by Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics has taken control of the Legacy of Kain and Tomb Raider series.
