On June 26th the first DLC expansion pack (Dawnguard) for Skyrim arrived on Xbox 360, costing 1600 Microsoft points. It’s got a fair amount of content packed into roughly 10 hours of gameplay, which isn’t bad at all, but for Skyrim you might hope for a little more, especially as the asking price is fairly high. It’s now coming up to August and still there is no sign of the DLC on either PC or Playstation 3 and you shouldn’t hold your breath for its release anytime soon, Gamespot reports. The vice president of Bethesda Pete Hines issued the following statement on Twitter:

We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I’d tell you.

Judging from this news, it could mean either one of two things, firstly that the DLC might not even come out on these two platforms, or secondly that work hasn’t yet begun on the DLC for these two platforms. Playstation 3 owners aren’t exactly getting the best end of the deal with Skyrim, firstly the game running into problems after 50 hours, not to mention a number of other technical issues around the launch. While Microsoft surely paid for the limited exclusivity, hopefully it won’t be too far behind for the other platforms.

Hopefully news of a potential release date will arrive soon, so keeping checking back here for any updates.
