Update: Greenlight Success! – Daymare: 1998’s KickStarter Campaign comes to an end

Update 28/03/17:  We have some great news on the Daymare: 1998 Greenlight campaign on Steam as Invader Studios has announced that their game has been successfully Greenlit.  Which should mean that Daymare: 1998 will eventually come to the Steam platform and with a bit of luck and success, hopefully to consoles one day too.  Congratulations folks, you deserve it!

We wanted to share the great news with you all!

Thanks to the passion of our supporters, Valve has announced that…

Original Story 17/03/17: Sadly, Invader Studios the studio behind the awesome fan-made Resident Evil 2 Reborn, has cancelled their KickStarter campaign for the promising Daymare: 1998.  Invader Studios had set a goal of €180,000, but after only gaining 1,187 backers (one of those being me), they had only reached €40,284 worth of pledges.

Emails were sent out to backers with a passionate letter from the developers breaking the news, in which they thanked their fans for the passionate support and for those that believed in them.  While it is sad news that the KickStarter campaign has come to an end, they did point out that they have another campaign on Steam Greenlight, which could result in Daymare: 1998 releasing on PC via Steam if successful.  This of course means that there will be no immediate console release, but if this campaign proves successful and so too with sales if the game gets released, we could still Daymare: 1998 make its way on to consoles eventually.

If you have an account on Steam, you can back that campaign by clicking the box to say that you would like to see Daymare: 1998 released on Steam here.

The only other way of Daymare: 1998 having a strong chance of releasing multi-platform would be if a publisher would be willing to take a chance by showing support to Invader Studios by picking them up.  In my opinion, publishers like Team 17, Deep Silver/Koch Media could be an ideal partnership.  But there are many more publishers out there that might be willing to back this talented indie team, let’s hope that someone takes a chance on Invader Studios soon, because I know there is a demand for Daymare: 1998.

As always, we’ll keep you posted if we hear any further developments.  In the meantime, you can read my email statement from Invader Studios in full below.

Dear Backers and Supporters,

First and foremost, I would like to say that the last few weeks has been an incredible experience for us. The passion of our fans has truly overwhelmed us. It has been an absolute pleasure to meet with you and talk to you through our social channels and through Kickstarter.

We have run two separate campaigns during this period and we are very pleased to see that Daymare:1998 is doing amazing well on Steam Greenlight. We are at 15 out of 3,147 titles at the time of me writing this.

WOW, thank you all so much!

Our second campaign, the Kickstarter campaign, is not going to make it. Our goal was high. We knew it was high. The intention was to reach a self-funding level and to do that we had to shoot for the S.T.A.R.S. and we knew there was a high risk of not getting there. But we are far from disappointed. Nearly 1,200 people believed in us. We are so humbled by your support and would like to thank each and every one of you. That you were prepared, collectively to back us to the value of over 40,000 euros for our vision, gives us hope and belief. As we will not reach our funding goal, it means that we have to explore other avenues. And we have been exploring. Now, we are happy to tell you that we are also deep in discussions with a few partners.

So watch this space 🙂

All your support and words of encouragement have made us even more determined to make Daymare: 1998 a success so once again, thank you so much, each and every one of you. You inspire us and will continue to drive us onward.
