The last we heard on the status of Dead Island 2, was back in May 2017 when Deep Silver claimed “Dead Island 2 is in development at Sumo Digital, and we are excited by the progress the team are making with Deep Silver’s most successful IP. When we are ready to share more information, we will. “.  But since it was announced at E3 way back in 2014, in truth, this game should have released years ago.  Heck, I even played a demo of Dead Island 2 at EGX in 2014!  It was buggy as hell, but it was an alpha and that’s expected, yet it’s quite baffling that the game is still in a hiatus after all these years.

Since its announcement, its swapped developers on more than one occasion and has suffered a number of long delays.  However, when Dead Island: Survivors was announced for mobile devices last week, its left fans wondering yet again, just where in the hell is Dead Island 2?

Well a fan took to Twitter in response to a tweet announcing the new mobile game by simply asking the question “What about Dead Island 2?” and the official Dead Island Twitter account replied by saying “Dead Island 2 is still in development and we will share more on this at a later stage.” And even though the Twitter user pressed on with his questions, they refused to give any insight as to when the game might release, as they don’t want to give “spoilers on release date.”  You can check out the Twitter conversation below.

While I don’t expect Deep Silver to announce anything official to a random Twitter user, it’s now been more than four years since Dead Island 2’s announcement and it was originally expected to release during Spring of 2015!  The crappy spin-off game; Escape: Dead Island was even offering Dead Island 2 beta access as a pre-order bonus!  I wonder if that offer is still valid?

At this stage it’s hard to take any official word on the status of Dead Island 2 seriously, because we’ve heard the same PR response time and time again.  Hopefully the next news we hear, will be an actual confirmed, set-in-stone release date, but I wouldn’t hold your breath.  As always, we’ll update you when we hear more.
