When Dead Space 3 was announced, we knew that the weapon bench would see a big change, but had no idea how big of a change… until now. It appears as though weapons will play a big part in this game, as Isaac Clarke can now build any weapon from scratch and modify any existing ones. For instance you can have your trusty plasma cutter, but now add the ability to shoot flames or electricity. While it looks like it could be a lot of fun, coming up with new and interesting weapons, is this really something that Dead Space 3 needed? I know it makes sense in the way that Isaac is an engineer, but surely this also takes away from the survival horror aspect. Being able to make any weapon would surely mean that no opponents would pose a big threat, unless of course there are restrictions to how powerful you can build a weapon. We will have to wait till February 8th to see how this pans out, until then check out the weapon bench video below.

Dead Space 3 is released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC on February 8th.
