Devil May Cry 5 Announced, Runs on Resident Evil 7 Engine #E32018

After all the rumours, Devil May Cry 5 was finally announced at the Xbox E3 conference; however, it was perhaps not what fans had thought it would be.  When the trailer was on show, it showcased Nero, but not the Nero from games of old, but Nero from the rebooted DmC developed by Ninja Theory in 2013.  Though despite its appearance, DMC5 won’t be developed by Ninja Theory, but instead in-house by Capcom with director Hideaki Itsuno at the helm using Resident Evil 7’s RE Engine, and it looks stunning.

However, despite the characters and art style looking like that of the reboot, I assumed initially that this would be DmC2, yet it is Devil May Cry 5 and a sequel to DMC4 from 2008.  It was a little confusing, but the game will also feature Dante, as well as Nico and Nero, with all three being playable characters.

There was also a reason in the trailer that we never saw much of Dante, and that’s because he’s gone missing and it’s up to Nero and Nico to discover his whereabouts, all while attempting to stop a demon invasion into our world.  You do get a brief glimpse of Dante, looking old-school and old, so I’m wondering whether or not he was travelled back in time or something?

Devil May Cry 5 will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during spring 2018.
