Digital PC Versions Of Batman: Arkham Knight Pulled From Sale!

The chances are that if you’re reading this article, you’ve already picked up Batman: Arkham Knight for the PC, PS4 or Xbox One and so far going on my early impressions, it’s a bloody fantastic game…for the console gamer at least.  However, for the PC gamers it’s not been such a smooth and enjoyable ride, as the PC version has been plagued with various issues since launch this week.  The most common issue has been the stuttering 30fps and for some, constant game crashes, to name but two.

It’s been so bad that Warner Bros. has pulled it from Steams digital service until the issues have been fixed, you can read the statement below announcing the news.  Even Green Man Gaming amended their refund policy following the issues of Arkham Knight.

Dear Batman: Arkham Knight PC owners,

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards. We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.

Thank you to those players who have already given valuable feedback. We are continuously monitoring all threads posted in the Official Batman: Arkham Knight Community and Steam forums, as well as any issues logged with our Customer Support (support.wbgames.com). If you purchased your copy of the game and are not satisfied with your experience, then we ask for your patience while these issues are resolved.

If desired, you can request a refund at help.steampowered.com (Steam refund policies can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds) or the retail location where you purchased the game.

The Batman: Arkham fans have continually supported the franchise to its current height of success, and we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.

It is said that while Batman: Arkham Knight had preliminary been developed by Rocksteady Studios, it was developed with the console version in mind and in-fact Iron Galaxy Studios were handling the PC port with a team that consisted of 12 members.  So if any developers/publishers want to develop better quality PC games, they need to stop sourcing the work out to other studios and deal with it in-house.

Unfortunately it’s a constant sad state of affairs with PC games being poorly optimised, Dead Rising 3 instantly springs to mind and in theory, top end PC’s should be the elite example of gaming (and most games are), regardless of the game in question.  Let’s just hope that the PC version gets fixed quick and the attitude towards PC’s from developers and publishers alike changes in the near future.

You can keep a lookout for our review of Batman: Arkham Knight coming very soon.
