#E32016 Doom Free updates and Premium DLC detail and demo announced

doom-beta-1a

At the Bethesda conference, they detailed some of the forthcoming multiplayer content and free updates for the awesome Doom.

First up, let’s talk about the free multiplayer updates.  Starting next month, two new modes will be added to your game at no extra cost with Exodus and SectorExodus will be a “one-flag” Capture the Flag type mode which is described as a “uniquely Doom experience.”  While Sector will be a “multizone” capture-and-hold match type.  Bethesda have also promised that three more additional “free-for-all” modes will arrive this summer, which is said to include a “beloved classic mode.”  All the free modes added will be playable on all maps, for all players at no cost.

The community inspired SnapMap will also be getting some free love and care.  Below are details on the free SnapMap content to arrive in the coming months.

  • New construction modules, including Hell visual themes
  • New props, weapons and items
  • New logic options
  • New functionality, like the campaign’s popular weapon wheel, that will help creators build deeper single-player experiences

Included in the Doom season pass will be the Premium content (which is not free) and the first piece of content to arrive will be Unto the Evil.  This will add three new multiplayer maps; Offering, Cataclysm and Ritual.  It will also add a new player controlled demon called the Harvester, a new weapon with the UAC EMG Pistol, new equipment with the Kinetic Mine and more customisable options which includes armour, patterns, colours, taunts and hack modules.

As an added bonus, Bethesda also announced that a playable demo of Doom will be available for a limited time, which is available now to download for PC, PS4 and Xbox One for the next week.  The demo will allow you to play the first level in full and if you’re yet to play Doom, but have considered picking it up, this is your perfect opportunity to sample this awesome game (as reflected in our review).
