#EAplay Battlefield 1 trailer, gameplay has Intuitive Destruction & Dynamic Weather

The star of the show at EA Play was arguably Battlefield 1.  While those lucky few in attendance got an hour to play the game (I’m looking at you Barry, Harris and Daniel), EA promised that no battle will ever be the same, which is a bold and surprisingly common claim by publishers nowadays.  They also showcased an all-new trailer (as seen below).

However, what has EA so confident of this “no battle will be the same” claim is because Battlefield 1 will have Dynamic Weather and an Intuitive Destruction system.  What this means in the hectic 64-player online battles, is that buildings will not only be destroyed, but you can literally blow through walls with a tactical path or blimps falling and crashing from the sky, and the ever changing and unpredictable dynamic weather can change the terrain in an instant, forcing you to switch your tactics.  Whether it be heavy rain or fog, or even a bright summers day, arguably no battle it seems will be the same, each sudden change will require you and your team to adapt.

There is also a new feature in the multiplayer called Operations.  It’s difficult to grasp exactly what EA intend with Operations without playing it first hand, but it seems that some of your actions will have consequences across a number of battles.  Below is the official word on Operations:

Operations introduces a completely new way to play multiplayer. In Battlefield 1 will you play a series of interconnected battles across multiple fronts. Play a sequence of battles where your actions have consequences beyond a single match, as you try to conquer territory or push back your attackers.

Introduced in Battlefield 1 will be the largest “fully player-controlled vehicles ever seen” in the Battlefield series called the Behemoths.  Whether its land, sea or air, EA say you’ll be able to “roam the battlefield and rain fire on your enemy to break their defences.

Senior Producer at DICE, Aleksander Grøndal had this to say on what the Behemoths bring to the battle-table “With Battlefield 1 we’re looking to deliver the most dynamic shooter ever. We want to make sure that no battle is ever the same for the players, and with the introduction of Operations, we’re giving the fans variety for game play and creativity,” said Aleksander Grøndal. “Plus, with the new Behemoths, only in Battlefield 1can you bring an Air Ship to a dogfight.
