Steel Wool Games have revealed that they are planning to launch their first game, Flyhunter Origins, this summer and the game has been created by some of the film industries most iconic artists and animators.

The 2D platformer has been created by individuals who were once employed by animation powerhouse Pixar and worked on movies such as “Brave,” “The Incredibles,” “Toy Story“, “Monsters University“, “Ratatouille” and many others. As a result of this, Flyhunter Origins features vibrant and unique cutscenes, characters and story that you would expect from a team of Steel Wool Games phenomenal credentials. Coming to several platforms including PS Vita, PC, Mac, Android, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Tegra powered devices, a release date has yet to be revealed beyond “this summer”.

In the press release from the development studio, they state:

Let’s set the scene… Zak is a bumbling alien spaceship Janitor and wannabe Flyhunter from Burgarol 3. He works on board the Flyhunter Crew’s legendary spaceship; ‘The Frog’ but deep down he longs for an exciting adventure of his own. Somewhere in Earth’s orbit, while the heroic Flyhunters are deep in cryo sleep; The Frog’s cargo of super-important exotic insects from the latest hunt is mysteriously jettisoned into Space, crash-landing back on planet Earth! It seems that clumsy Janitor Zak is the only one around to save the day. Can this accidental hero swap his sweeping brush for a super-cool fly swatter and take on the role of daring Flyhunter? It’s a good job Zak’s used to cleaning up – because he’s in a huge mess! Hurry! Help this little dude complete his mission, before “The Investors” find out their expensive bugs are missing!

Although Flyhunter Origins is the debut title for Steel Wool Games, it is being produced by Ripstone who have produced games such as Knytt Underground, Big Sky Infinity, Men’s Room Mayhem and Stick It To The Man.

While there has only been screenshots, a short trailer and some information released for the game, the experience the studio possesses is clear to see in the quality of their work. The trailer shows of exciting and fresh environments, which slightly remind me of Earthworm Jim. With this project being Steel Wool Studios’ first game it’s too early to tell whether the game will be a hit or not. If the reveal is anything to go by, however, it looks as if the magic found in Pixar movies could soon be found in Flyhunter Origins.
