You may remember from back in January of some pre-alpha footage being released for a fan made remake of Resident Evil 2.  Well now the developers of Invader Games have announced that an open beta will be arriving this month and they have also revealed the PC specs for their game.

Below are the system requirements for the fan made Resident Evil 2 remake:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Processor Dual Core 1.2Ghz or higher ( Intel or AMD)
  • Ram: 1 GB
  • Video Card: Video card with at least 512 MB of RAM and DirectX 9.0c support
  • HDD: 2GB of disk space.

Recommended Requirements (DX9 Version):

  • Processor Dual Core 1.8 GHz (Intel or AMD)
  • Ram : 2GB
  • Video Card: Dedicated Video Card with 1Gb of RAM and DirectX 9 support
  • HDD : 4GB of disk space

Recommended Requirements (DX11 Version):

  • Quad Core Processor 1.8 Ghz or Dual Core 2.2Ghz (Intel or AMD)
  • Ram: 3GB
  • Video Card: Dedicated Video card With 1Gb of VRAM and DX11 Support (Shader Model 3+)
  • HDD: 4GG Hdd space

Invader Games have also said that their remake will include the classic Resi inventory system and the Ink Ribbons which were used in the original games to save your progress.  While they have only developed Leon’s campaign thus far, they have stated that Claire’s campaign will follow in the near future.  With the open beta releasing this month, it is expected that the full version of the game will release December of this year and best of all, it will be free of charge!

It’s worth noting that Capcom are aware of Invader Games unofficial remake and the developers say that they are yet to receive a “cease and desist” letter from Capcom.  So let’s hope that Capcom doesn’t shut down the fine work that these talented indie developers have started.  But with that in mind, I would also love to see nothing more than an ‘official’ Resident Evil 2 remake one day, hopefully this will be in a world where the official and unofficial versions can co-exist.
