Update: First Doom Premium DLC releases, out now

Update 05/08/16: Unto the Evil is available now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.  To celebrate its release, you can watch the new gameplay trailer below.

 

Original Story 28/07/16: The next free update for Doom arrives tomorrow (July 29th) and with it will come two new multiplayer modes.  Exodus, which is Doom’s take on the popular Capture-the-Flag mode.  In Exodus players will fight over control of one flag with bases and flags constantly changing location during the match.  The second free mode added with this update is SectorSector sounds much like Control that features in Destiny or Domination in the Call of Duty series, where players capture and hold zones to earn extra points for their teams.

This update also adds some tremendous tools and fun new capabilities for SnapMap fans, including: customizable weapon wheel functionality – so players can carry and select multiple weapons, just like the campaign; jump pads with logic to set distance, speed and direction; 30 brand-new Hell-themed modules; an expanded weapon list; a new playable demon – the Mancubus – as well as a laundry list of improvements to the Community HUB, editor and logic capabilities.

Also the first Premium content DLC pack for the multiplayer will release on August 5th with Unto the Evil.  The DLC will add three new maps, a new player controlled demon and more.  Unto the Evil will cost £11.99 as an individual purchase or at no extra cost for Doom season pass owners.  Details on Unto the Evil includes can be seen below:

  • Three new multiplayer maps: OfferingCataclysm, and Ritual
  • A new player-controlled demon: Harvester
  • A new weapon: UAC EMG Pistol
  • New equipment: Kinetic Mine
  • New ways to customize your DOOM Marine, including additional armour sets, patterns, colours, and taunts
  • New hack modules

As an added bonus, to celebrate the release of the two new modes included in the free update, it will be double-XP all this weekend with Doom’s multiplayer starting on the 29th.  A video detailing all the new content arriving from tomorrow can be below.
