This week’s “Flash Game of the Week” was a hard choice between 5 games. First let me tell you about the five nominees.

First we have, “Home run in Berzerkland”. Now when I began to play this game, I realized that, yes its just another Launcher game, and yes, Its not much different than most. The Factor that allowed this game to be a nominee was that it had more than one song on the soundtrack, it had more than one level (background if you prefer), it included upgradable characters, and items and weapons to buy for your character.

There was even a score match with other players online to acquire gems to buy certain items. In “Berzerkland” the difference in controls is that you can aid the person you launch with the left and right keys to help him slow down and gain items to boosts, or help him go faster through the air to get the farthest. There are achievements to help you get the gems you need for better weapons.

The Second game up for nominee is “Nob War: the elves”. In this game you play as a quad of archer elves who need to get the humans to the castle on the other end of the level. The controls for this game are the arrow keys, z, x, c v, and b. Other than the main object, there are many ways to lose in this game and it was a challenge.

Your squad of elves attacks with bows only and can only shoot in the same range(until you upgrade), so you can call in for other squads like centaurs to come help you get safely to the castle. This game has a pleasant soundtrack and was pleasing to see minimal graphics work as a monotone character with a vibrant background.

Next we have “Enough Plumbers”. This game is sooooooo close to Mario it hurts, but what helped this game be considered is that it was similar to not just Mario, but Braid as well. You play as an Italian plumber (I swear its Mario) trying to get to the flag alive, as you collect the coins, they turn into copies of yourself, so now instead of having one mamma mia, you have many mia…I know, bad joke….
Picture 5Picture 3
Just like in Mario you get different forms such as a brick breaking Mario, a flame Mario, a floating Mario, and a backwards controls Mario (“needs to lay off the shrooms Mario” is more like it). This game is difficult around level 14 and has been an annoyance just like two other games similar to this…no names….”cough Mario and braid”.

As a forth contestant we bring “Trafalgar Origins”. If you like pirates just like me, then you might love this game. In Trafalgar…..weirdest name ever to pronounce…. you control a ship sailing the seas, in the time of napoleon. Some time there are friendly ships you must protect, but other wise this is just a top-view canon-ball frenzy in the open sea.

To navigate you use, W, A, S, and D and if you hit the windy areas you have a boost in the direction it blows. Along with fighting in the open sea, you can upgrade your ship depending on your crew you hire with the money you “acquire” from ships you pummel and mission you’ve completed. This game is Very challenging as well as fun, and is a game that can be played for hours, while you smash your keyboard into your desk trying to defend stupid ships that cant navigate or fight for themselves.

Our Last and Fifth Nominee is called “Sparks and dust”. This game is solely chosen for its incredible looks as a flash game. The story is a bit hard to follow, and the controls are difficult to master, but you cant get over the fact of the way it looks and moves.

Since this game was only chosen because of its appearance, that’s all that you will read about. The level design is somewhat a cloudy area and when you pound on the ground the clouds clear away. When you fall from greater heights your pounding move gains more effect and thus pushes the ground in like a dent. The character has solid movement and is semi blurred giving the illusion that he looks cool (I understand that its an odd statement but its something you have to see for yourself).

As for a winner for “Flash Game of the Week” It was a hard choice, but The hardest to play and hardest to say, is the victor this week. “Trafalgar Origins” is the Flash game of the week, and will be played until we start searching for next weeks Flash game winner.
