Whether you’re a fan of his or not, ex-Gears of War developer, Cliff Bleszinski has made a strong name for himself in the industry, mainly due to the Gears franchise, but he has also worked on the likes of Unreal Tournament, Shadow Complex, Bulletstorm and Superhot (as a co-designer of an arena stage).  However, he’s not had such good luck in recent years following the colossal failures of Lawbreakers and Radical Height, which resulted in the closure of his very own studio, Boss Key Productions.

Yet despite his recent failures, he’s had more success than most and sometimes we can just be one good idea from getting back on track and it seems that Bleszinski could have had another a hit on his hands, if it wasn’t for ill-timed fate.  In a series of tweets about a week ago, Bleszinski revealed that he was in talks with Fox to work on a new Aliens game, however, when Disney bought Fox, his project “got lost in the shuffle”.

The game would have seen you play as an adult Newt, following the events of James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) and it would be located on Earth, where the Weyland-Yutani Corporation are continuing experiments to weaponise the Xenomorphs in a “Black Mesa style facility” before “all hell breaks loose.”  Newt would also be accompanied by an android named Casey, after her doll in the Aliens movie.  The game would also feature Ellen Ripley, who would be the voice in your ear, similar to that of Cortana from the Halo series and the game would have been in a First-Person perspective.

We can only speculate how good this game might have been and while Cliff Bleszinski may have failed with recent multiplayer focused titles, he does have a decent track-record of singleplayer offerings and with the backing of the Alien franchise, this could have been a fantastic game alongside side the likes of Alien: Isolation.
