August 28th is looking to be a good day for updates. Not only is the PlayStation Vita getting PS1 classic compatibility (YAY) but Max Payne 3 is also getting a FREE DLC pack.

Titled “Disorganised Crime” (probably because if you’ve ever played online you’ll notice that there is no such thing as organisation with the majority of these people), the pack contains the Hoboken Rooftops map. That’s it for you multiplayer lot, but over on the far more interesting single-player side of things we get some new features as well, namely more modifiers for Score Attack.

Ever wanted to use explosive rounds, have more aggressive AI or limit kills to headshots only? Well soon you can. Huzzah I guess, Score Attack isn’t somewhere I spend a lot of my MP3 playtime. What I am looking forward to however is the new “Noir Mode”. Granted, all it does is allow you to play the game in noir et blanc (black and white), but its a mode Im unlikely to turn off any time soon. As with LA Noire before it the feeling of this genre really gets accentuated by grey-scale, though that may just be because I grew up with film noir and have a nostalgic connection to the lack of colour.

Any which way you look at it its free, and that’s no bad thing. Listen up other people, give us an update that lets us play in black and white (or sped up sepia toned ragtime ala Call of Duty 4) and I will shower you with praise.

Sounds quite good, although I never really was tempted to pick this up. More games should embrace noir, and not just when you are bleeding out. Adds that ‘Sherlock’ style for me.
