Following the closure of Telltale Games, fans have been left disappointed, not only with the potential of the final season of The Walking Dead never getting finished, thus not concluding Clementine’s story that began in 2012, but also the prospect of never seeing future projects such as an adaptation of Netflix series, Stranger Things.  However, leaked gameplay footage of Telltales now cancelled Stranger Things has surfaced.

In total there are five snippets of gameplay, ranging from seeing Will walk and explore his house, while his mother Joyce talks on the phone to Dr. Owens and very interestingly, in the last two snippets we see a glimpse of the creepy Demogorgon.  The videos were leaked on Reddit and 4Chan (thanks PCGamesN) and while the videos cannot be sourced, the art style may look a little different from what we’re used to seeing from Telltale Games, but it certainly looks legitimately like one of their products.

However, while it may be disappointing for fans seeing this footage with the mindset that we’ll never get to see this game release, Netflix has confirmed to Polygon that they are in the process of bringing the Stranger Things license to another development studio.  The game will likely look somewhat different to the leaked footage seen above, but I would imagine that the multiple choice “choose your own adventure” format will be the same.  So at least there is a very strong chance that we will still get the Stranger Things video game on console.

Also following the closure of Telltale Games last week, it was revealed that a small team of 25 would be working to finish the Minecraft Story Mode series that is to air on Netflix.  Naturally fans that had put down money for the season pass for The Walking Dead: Final Season were left feeling very disappointed as we would only receive half of the episodes that we paid for.  However, Telltale Games has now released another statement indicating that they will perhaps be making an attempt to finish Clementine’s story after all.

In the tweet seen below, they state that “multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express an interest in helping to see The Walking Dead through to completion” and that they are “actively working towards a solution that will allow episodes 3 and 4 to be completed and released in some form.”  However, they have also said that they “can’t make any promises today”.  The statement is quite vauge, but hopefully there is a good chance that we will have a conclusion to this series that has had so many fans emotionally invested.

Finally once again, we’d like to thank the developers at Telltale Games for all their great work and story-telling over the years, and we hope that they land in some stable work very soon.  We’ll update you as these stories progress further.
