Good news for fans of The Settlers, as there have been two exciting announcements in the last few days for the building/management sim.

First and foremost is a new entry in the series:

“Forced to leave their homelands after a devastating earthquake of mysterious origins, the Settlers set sail towards the unknown in the hopes of finding a new home. Not only will they face countless new challenges, they will also become part of an ancient mystery that will change their lives forever.”

The trailer showcases, in cinematic fashion, your settlers building, farming and fighting as gradually your small settlement becomes larger and larger. It’s looking quite pretty – especially as the last main entry in the series was in 2010 – though obviously at this time there’s limited information on the gameplay front.

In addition to this, the series is celebrating 25 years since its creation, and a ‘modernised’ collection of the 7 games will be released November 15th of this year on PC. For a series as classic and long running as The Settlers this seems like a very good idea. Not only introducing new people to the series before dropping their latest entry, but allowing ongoing fans to replay the games in one workable package.

I was a massive fan of the builder/management genre growing up, however The Settlers mostly passed me by. But I can say with certainty that I’m ready to jump in – and I think the genre is due for a revival.

Check out both of the trailers below. The new Settlers game is touted for release ‘Fall 2019’ and will be coming to PC.
