Ghost of a Tale Feature Small

Now I don’t usually follow Kickstarter or IndieGogo because, to be honest, I think they are a scammers paradise. There have been so many of failed projects even after getting the money from backers due to “not doing enough research” or “I spent the money on moving” that proves my point. Now I’m not saying that all projects are scams, in fact, the recently released console Ouya shows that projects can be successful in releasing to the public, even if there were some problems with the console’s Operating System.

When I first saw Ghost of a Tale though, I instantly fell in love with it. It oozed with charm and the music was fantastic. I found that Ghost of a Tale was on IndieGoGo and it needed more backers and I happily donated money to help it become a reality. I was very happy to hear that it reached its mark and got enough backing.

Now to tell you about Ghost of a Tale. It is being created by Lionel Gallat, the animation director of “Despicable Me” and The Lorax”. He has been working on this game on his own for over a year and has now got some other people to help him. He has said he was been inspired by “The Secret of the Nimh”, “Robin Hood”, “Dark Crystal” and many more. He has also been inspired by the games “Zelda”, “ICO”, “Dark Souls” and the “Gothic” series.

Ghost of a Tale Mouse looks at view

You play as a mouse which carries a lute, he is on adventure on the Island of Periclave which is set in a medieval world. Why is he there and what is he looking for? That’s up to you find out. The island is known to be the outpost for the army of rats though and is reputed to be haunted. Can this small little mouse overcome the dangers and find the treasure that is rumoured to be at the top of the Tower of Periclave? We’ll have to wait and see.

Ghost of a Tale 3 Skeletons.

Lionel said on the IndieGoGo project page that his main goal is to “craft a small yet beautiful game with environments that look a bit like movie sets and characters that have a sense of stylization in their design, while retaining a certain simplicity and immediacy as far as gameplay is involved” and I think that sounds fantastic! This sounds like the game everyone wants and someone is actually making it become a reality.

Ghost of a Tale Skeleton Rat Rises

Hopefully they will show some new footage soon and announce a release date, although it’s expected to release the first half of 2014, but may slip to the end of 2014 on the PC. So if you’re looking for a new game that has charm, adventure and wonder, then Ghost of a Tale is a game you should be looking at. In the meantime you can follow the progress of the game at www.ghostofatale.com where they release updates on how the game is doing.
