Has Shenmue 3 Been Confirmed?

Now Sega’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is not usually a game on my radar (though I did enjoy my brief time playing the PS Vita version), but there’s something about the latest DLC character reveal that has more then caught my attention.

Shenmue’s Ryo Hazuki (yes the star of the series that Sega have seemingly been reluctant to finish)is the latest DLC character in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, but it’s not necessarily his reveal that will get gamers talking, much rather the Easter egg that has been spotted by the eagled eyed folk at All Games Beta.  At quick glance you see Ryo racing in the arcade cabinets dedicated to the classics Space Harrier, Super Hang-On and Out Run.  But look closer at the screenshot of the Out Run arcade cabinet and you should notice the number plate that reads “Shen 3”.

This could of course just be a complete (yet cruel) wind-up by the folks at Sega, but on the other hand it could be a tease to Sega maybe, just maybe finishing off the Shenmue trilogy that has tormented fans since late 2001(yep it’s been that long).

This tease could have no meaning, but I really like the idea of us finally getting Shenmue 3.  But what do you guys think of this little Easter egg and if the third instalment is ever released, which format would you like to see it released on?  Let us know in the comments section below.
