As you know, we are still waiting to get an in-depth look at the next gen consoles, with crucial information like marked price and release date still a stranger to us. Regardless of this, Microsoft decided to host a mini showcase for third-party games that will be coming to the Xbox Series X. Here is what they showed us:

 BRIGHT MEMORIES

First up, was Bright Memories, the action first-person shooter originally made by a one man team. It combines fast paced traversal with shooting and swordplay, encased in some really impressive graphics that will make use of the DXR (Direct-X Ray Tracing) technology.

DiRT 5

DiRT 5, the acclaimed rally game series by Codemasters made a returning debut during the event, with the developer promising up to 4K 120 Hz support. It also boasts a campaign, featuring megastar talent Troy Baker and Nolan North.

SCORN

Scorn is a game that could understandably be mistaken for being part of the Alien franchise stunned viewers by borrowing inspirations from the iconic H.R. Giger. The game was originally a Kickstarter project that seems to now have gained a much needed traction after a few bumps in the road.

CALL OF THE SEA

Call of the Sea is a stunning looking first-person adventure game that is set in the 1930’s, following a woman’s quest to find her missing husband. Cthulhu fans will like this for its Lovecraftian inspiration.

CHORUS

Chorus looks to be a fast paced flight shoot ‘em up in space with sci-fi undertones and a seemingly dark storyline with an enigmatic protagonist tying it together.

SECOND EXTINCTION

Second Extinction is a dinosaur themed co-op shooter from the studio behind the Just Cause series. Supporting up to 3-players, the game throws players against mutated dinosaurs, each fighting the other over what remains of earth.

THE ASCENT

This looks like Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t the only cyber punk themed game we will be getting, as The Ascent borrows similar aesthetics from the setting, with top down Action-RPG elements.

THE MEDIUM

Perhaps the most impressive reveal from the showcase, The Medium is the next game from the Blair Witch and Observer devs, Bloober. It is homage to the Silent Hill series, wearing its inspiration proudly on its sleeves. In fact, the music will be composed by none other than the legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, whose signature drum and electric strings rhythms can be heard in the trailer.

SMART DELIVERY

Not only will the Xbox series X have tons of games to play during its launch year, but a lot of it will be at no extra cost to those who already have the current gen versions of said games. It’s what CD Projekt Red initially promised with Cyberpunk 2077,but it looks like most major developers will support this feature out of the gate as well.

VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE – BLOODLINES 2

We finally got to see some meaty and supernatural combat in the latest Bloodline 2 trailer, showcasing the series return to the dark and gothic world of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

SCARLET NEXUS

Bandai Namco revealed an anime themed action game Scarlet Nexus, where the world faces an otherworldly threat, requiring our protagonist with a specialised job to step in. The game seems to feature some creative enemy and combat design.

YAKUZA 7: LIKE A DRAGON

Yo, it’s Yakuza baby! The latest instalment in the series that has taken the west by storm is finally headed to the Xbox One, and PC (as well as PlayStation). Now here is hoping that the remaining games will also make their way to both platforms.

ASSASSIN’S CREED: VALHALLA

As you might have noticed, Ubisoft has been busy hyping up the next chapter in its epic Assassin’s Creed series, putting players in the roles of ruthless Vikings. The “gameplay” trailer did disappoint some fans for not showing some more traditional gameplay.

Overall it was a rather good showcase of some fantastic games that will be coming out on the Xbox series X, and Windows 10 PC’s. Microsoft made it a point that it will not be slowing down, as it prepares its next showcase which will be focused on first party studios this July.
