Initially, Kholat was released to mixed critical reception on 9th of June, 2015 on PC. Its story concentrates on the fatal Dyatlov Pass incident, which claimed lives of 9 Russian students in 1959. The Pass within which the students have initially disappeared, is situated within the northern Ural region of Russia, right on the mountain of Kholat Syakhl. However, in this particular instance, the fate of the 9 victims is just a part of the plot, as player in control of a protagonist is simply following their routes.
