Update – Latest Marvel vs Capcom 4 rumours points towards PlayStation Experience
Update 29/11/16: Apparently according to sources at Polygon, the rumours of the forthcoming announcement regarding Marvel vs. Capcom 4 are true. They say that MVC4 is coming to ‘consoles’ next year, the plural word “consoles” being very important, as it should rule out any console exclusivity deal (unless its timed) and the game is already in development. It is expected that it will be announced this week, alongside the PlayStation Experience, but not at the actual show. Instead, it is said that it will be revealed at the Capcom Cup 2016 Street Fighter V Tournament, we’ll keep you updated when we hear more.
Original Story 28/11/16: Back in June following an interview with Polygon, Marvel Games Jay Ong acknowledged that the company is aware that fans are itching for a new Marvel vs. Capcom instalment, however, it was made quite clear that the fourth main entry won’t be happening anytime soon.
Now more rumours have surfaced in regards to a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 with an announcement to be made at the PlayStation Experience next month. The rumours first appeared on NeoGAF thanks to user BakedYams, which resulted in the images seen in this article, supposedly from a forthcoming reveal trailer.
All this news must be taken with a HUGE pinch of salt, especially as even the best looking images can end up being fake with the sufficient Photoshop skills. However, the rumours are becoming more frequent and as they say, there’s no smoke without fire.
If a Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is announced at the PlayStation Experience, it could be likely that the game could have some kind of console exclusivity deal that accompanied Capcom’s other big hitter, Street Fighter 4 on PS4. But I do hope this isn’t the case, because I want to see MVC4 release on Xbox One, as well as PS4 and PC.
However, to debunk these latest rumours furthermore, the producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3; Ryota Niitsuma denied (at least to his knowledge) that nothing is in the works in regards to an incoming MVC4 announcement; you can see his tweet below.
