There’s a game you may have heard of. Approximately 27 million people play it every day. It’s a place where you can go and get abuse hurled at you from all directions, and occasionally play a game of League of Legends. A great game it is, but a good community it is not. So in an attempt to alleviate some of the name calling, Riot Games has formed a new Team Builder. It shall work thusly.

Team Builder is a new queue where you select a specific role, champion and position before joining a team. Everyone knows what they’re playing and where they want to go, laying the foundation for great teamwork.

They go on to say…

Because this is a beta test on live servers, each region will open Team Builder testing for 48 hours through a staggered roll-out starting with RU and EUNE the week of March 3-7.

We took into account the size of each region, the available architecture and hardware, and the current player experience (such as current queue times for all levels) to design the staggered launch. Check the image below for the tentative schedule of when your server will start their two-day Team Builder live beta:

So… Teamwork. Sounds good, right? I think so, I’m not sure it will stop the headache that comes from solo queueing, but until such time that they integrate a system that permanently bans anyone who use “leet speak” and the term “n00b”, I think we will have to make do with this.

According to their FAQ, this will exist alongside the normal blind and normal draft pick for unranked Summoner’s Rift. To be clear, this WILL NOT be available for ranked, mainly due to ban and pick order mechanics being difficult to facilitate with Team Builder.

There is plenty more info on the FAQ, covering wait times and other assorted factoids. I think this is a good thing for LoL, anyone who has spent more than five minutes with the game can tell you how hard starting out can be. Anything that can make things easier for new comers is a good strategy in my eyes.

So if you like the sound of the MOBA genre, now might be the time to give it a go. If you plan on giving it a try, be sure to let us know how you get on. As always, if anything new comes to light, we shall keep you updated, Summoners.
