Leaked Harry Potter RPG Footage Appears to be real as Warner Pulls Videos

Yesterday some gameplay footage of what is said to be a Harry Potter RPG leaked on the internet, thanks to a reddit user by the name of VapeThisBro.  The game is said to be developed by Avalanche, the studio that brought us the Just Cause series.  However, some reports have suggested that the game is to be developed by Rocksteady Studios (Batman Arkham series), but Eurogamer, according to their sources have said that the Rocksteady link is not true.

The game will also be published by Warner Bros.  Now with any kinds of rumours or leaks, you must always take them with a pinch of salt.  However, as you can see via the off-cam gameplay footage below, this looks to be no work of an amateur and looks very genuine indeed.  Also, Warner Bros have been relentlessly pulling these videos from websites such as YouTube, which might also suggest that the footage is real.  If this was a fan project, Warner Bros may not have been as aggressive with their approach.

Following Eurogamer’s coverage of the story, BBC News reporter and big Harry Potter fan, Lizo Mzimba stated that he has been informed that this leaked gameplay footage is “from a yet to be announced RPG currently titled Harry Potter Magic Awakened, although other titles included Magic Forever are also in the mix”.  He added that “Other Potter games are also thought to be on the way.”  You can see the tweet from Lizo Mzimba below.

According to the blurb detailed on the leaked video, this Harry Potter RPG is said to be set during the late 1800’s, with the story based upon a character with “unique abilities” that had earned late acceptance into Hogwarts.  The special power of the student is said to be an ability that can track and identify remnants of a pottant, ancient power.  However, when strange happenings begin in the Forbidden Forest, it makes its way into the Hogwarts school.  You will work with Professor Elezar Fig to put an end to the mysterious and supernatural events, which will take you to both familiar and unseen locations in the Harry Potter universe.

Not only does the gameplay show some form of character creation (to some extent), you will also be able to craft your own potions and spells, as well as discovering “fantastical beasts” and battle against Dark Wizards, Goblins, and “the fate of Wizarding World lies in your hands.”

Other key features from the leaked details include:

  • Journey to Hogwarts to become one of 8 different Wizard types.
  • Experience Hogwarts, make new friends, uncover new secrets, and change the fate of the Wizarding World.
  • Experience a new magic system that creates countless possibilities to master magic.
  • Freely explore the Wizarding World for the first time.
  • Choose your house and friends at Hogwarts, and decide to pursue a path of good or evil.
  • Create your own witch or wizard, and experience in an all new story separate from the books or films.
