Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 announced! Will focus on past and future!

In somewhat of a surprise announcement (even for a Lego game), Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games has announced a sequel to the awesome Lego Marvel Super Heroes, and it will release at the end of this year.

If you’re familiar with the original game, unlike Lego Marvel’s Avengers, the original Lego Marvel Super Heroes had its own unique story with the vast majority of its character roster not being tied to any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  I’ll happily admit that I am a big fan of Lego videogames, especially as it’s a perfect game to play co-op with my young son and the original Lego Marvel Super Heroes is my favourite instalment from the packed gaming franchise yet.

We don’t know any major specifics as of yet, however, according to the official press release, the sequel will feature “iconic Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains from different Eras and Realities”, so much like the first game, expect multiple versions of your favourite characters and stories.  Other confirmed characters include Cowboy Captain America, Spider-Man of 2099, Thor, Hulk, Guardians of the Galaxy (including Baby Groot), Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Green Goblin and many more.

The game will also feature an open-hub world of Chronopolis, the home of Kang the Conqueror and will likely act as a gateway to the multiple universes and eras that the game has to offer.  The game will offer locations such as Ancient Egypt, The Old West, Sakaar, New York City in 2099 and much more.  Taking inspiration from Lego Dimensions, Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 will also include a four-player competitive “Super Hero” battle mode, which should be a lot of fun.

WB and TT Games has promised that a full version of the trailer seen below will be coming on May 23rd, but for now you can check out the teaser trailer.  Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 will release at the end of this year for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
